Officers Attend National Convention The President and two Vice-Presidents traveled to Toronto, Canada this month for CWA's National Convention. There were some landmark decisions made this year to include the creation of a Public Employee Fund similar to the Strategic Industry Fund that was adopted for the private sector in 2006. Come out to the membership meeting on the 14th of August to get details on the new changes. Membership Approves New Computers At the general membership meeting held on July 10th, 2007, the membership voted to approve $15,000 for the purpose of replacing the Union Hall's antiquated work-stations and installing a server-based network to coordinate the new systems. After careful consideration, Sean and Doug selected Advanced Network Management as the company to execute the new plan, and the ball is in motion. The new systems should be in place in approximately four weeks. Member Relations Gets a Bump The membership also voted to transfer the $5,000 that the local had originally set aside for a Christmas party into the Member Relations budget. This allows the money to be utilized for barbecues at the membership meeting and other membership building ideas. Do you have an idea? Call us up or e-mail E.V.P. Doug Gibson. T-Shirts for Sale The local has red t-shirts with the CWA logo and local number printed on the front. The shirts are available in small, medium, large, extra-large and Altamirano (2xl) sizes and are available with or without pockets. The local is selling the t-shirts for cost at eight dollars a piece.
